Outs, draw types, and equity on the flop and turn — the Rule of 2 and 4, calibrated against the exact numbers.
Rule of 4 — Flop
On the flop (two cards to come), multiply your outs by 4 for approximate equity.
9 outs × 4 = 36%
Rule of 2 — Turn
On the turn (one card to come), multiply your outs by 2 for approximate equity.
9 outs × 2 = 18%
Flop equity uses the Rule of 4 (outs × 4), turn equity uses the Rule of 2 (outs × 2). These are approximations — exact values are slightly lower for high out counts. Equity assumes you will see all remaining cards without additional betting. For the exact number in a specific matchup, use the odds calculator.
