Texas Hold'em Cheat Sheet

Hand rankings
Best to worst, with how often each is made across all seven cards.
| 1 | Royal Flush | 0.0032% |
| 2 | Straight Flush | 0.0279% |
| 3 | Four of a Kind | 0.168% |
| 4 | Full House | 2.60% |
| 5 | Flush | 3.03% |
| 6 | Straight | 4.62% |
| 7 | Three of a Kind | 4.83% |
| 8 | Two Pair | 23.50% |
| 9 | One Pair | 43.82% |
| 10 | High Card | 17.41% |
Suits never break a tie. Equal hands split the pot. Full houses are compared on the three-card rank first.
Opening ranges by position (6-max)
Share of all hands to raise when folded to you, 100bb.
| UTG | 16.9% | |
| HJ | 21.1% | |
| CO | 26.8% | |
| BTN | 43.3% | |
| SB | 39.7% |
Later position, wider range. The button opens more than twice as many hands as the first seat. Exact hand-by-hand charts are at pokerink.com/tools/range-charts.
Pot odds
Equity you need to break even on a call.
| Bet size | Odds | Need |
|---|---|---|
| ⅓ pot | 4.0:1 | 20.0% |
| ½ pot | 3.0:1 | 25.0% |
| ⅔ pot | 2.5:1 | 28.6% |
| ¾ pot | 2.3:1 | 30.0% |
| Pot | 2.0:1 | 33.3% |
| 2× pot | 1.5:1 | 40.0% |
Equity needed = call ÷ (pot + bet + call). Bigger bets mean you have to be right more often.
Outs and the Rule of 2 and 4
Chance of completing a draw, exact, with the shortcut beside it.
| Draw | Outs | Flop | Turn |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gutshot | 4 | 16% | 9% |
| Two overcards | 6 | 24% | 13% |
| Open-ender | 8 | 31% | 17% |
| Flush draw | 9 | 35% | 20% |
| Flush + gutshot | 12 | 45% | 26% |
| Flush + open-ender | 15 | 54% | 33% |
Outs × 4 from the flop, × 2 from the turn. Nine outs is 36% by the rule against 35% exactly — close enough at the table, and it overstates as outs climb.
How a hand plays out
Four betting rounds, then showdown.
| 1 | Preflop | 2 hole cards, action left of the big blind |
| 2 | Flop | 3 community cards, action left of the button |
| 3 | Turn | 4th community card |
| 4 | River | 5th community card, then showdown |
You make the best five-card hand from your two cards and the five on the board — using both, one, or neither.
At the table
The things that cost the most money.
- Position is value. Acting last on every street is worth more than most hands.
- Count outs, then discount them. A flush card that pairs the board is not fully an out.
- Name the worse hand. If nothing worse calls your bet, it is not a value bet.
- Money already in the pot is gone. It belongs to the pot, not to you, and never justifies a call.
- Leave when you tilt. It costs more than any technical mistake.
The interactive versions
A sheet of paper cannot answer a specific spot. When you have one, the pot odds calculator takes your actual pot and bet, the odds calculator runs exact equity for any matchup, and the range charts give the hand-by-hand version of the opening percentages above. Terms you do not recognise are in the glossary, and the full hand rankings include the tie-breaking rules this sheet only summarises.
Ran the numbers. Now track the hand.
The calculators tell you what a spot was worth. An account tells you what you did with it — every hand, every session, with an AI coach reading your own play.
